Technalign announces a Special Edition TaFusion MEPIS Pro version with Microsoft Office 2000 Pro - Includes
Codeweavers' CrossOver Office Pro with full support Pennsauken, NJ, September 20, 2005: Technalign, Inc. announced today that they have released a two versions of their award winning TaFusion MEPIS Pro version with Microsoft Office 2000 Pro with CrossOver Office Pro and another with CrossOver Office Standard. The solution comes before the announcement of the awaited TaFusion Business Desktop and Business Enterprise Server. Dianne Ursini, CEO of Technalign, Inc. stated "Businesses and some individuals have been looking for a simple migration without the need to learn new office applications, this bundle provides the simplest of ways to transition to Linux without losing familiar tools. These Special Editions will give the end-user the best of both worlds with an office product they are familiar with and at the same time a secure environment." The new offering allows businesses a simple transition by providing an office suite that end-users are familiar with. Although the company's position is that OpenOffice.org is an excellent Office Suite, they admit a hesitancy from many companies. By offering the Microsoft Office suite, the company feels that companies will transition with familiar tools. Companies that currently have licensed copies of Microsoft Office will have the ability to purchase the special edition product without Microsoft Office included. Warren Woodford, CEO of MEPIS, LLC stated, "We are bringing the best of MEPIS to the business community with tools they are familiar with. Microsoft Office will make the transition to Linux a simple one. Companies that make a clean cutover will find that OpenOffice.org will provide the functionality they require without having to use Microsoft products." Codeweavers, an Open Software company based in St. Paul, MN, is the largest corporate sponsor of the Wine Project. CrossOver Office, based on Wine, enables Linux users to run a large number of leading Windows personal and professional applications within Linux, such as MS Office, Photoshop, Quicken and others, without a Windows emulator. "Our partnership with Technalign provides end-users a simple transition that allows them to continue running their office applications," said Jeremy White, CEO of CodeWeavers. "After six years and nearly 100 man-years of work, we are able to satisfy that objective with more confidence than ever before." About Technalign About MEPIS About Codeweavers
