Technalign, Inc. releases Pioneer Explorer 1.0 Server Release Candidate 1 - Community
Edition of Pioneer MigrationSERVER Cedaredge, CO, August 16, 2007: Technalign, Inc. announced today the release of Pioneer Explorer 1.0 Server Release Candidate 1 for the community. Pioneer Explorer Server, as with all server products, is a bootable live CD allowing users to test drive the server before installation. RC1 includes a striped down KDE version for the server along with Webmin 3.0. Pioneer Explorer Server uses a 2.6.20-16 Linux kernel. The new server provides MySQL, a rebuilt Apache, Samba, ProFTP, PHP 5, SSH, sendmail, spamassassin, and other needed server tools. KDE has been installed for ease of use for those migrating off of Windows. The final release will include a desktop icon allowing the removal of the desktop if not required. Technalign expects the final release to be completed soon after testing by the community. Dianne Ursini, CEO, stated: "We believe the community will enjoy Pioneer Explorer 1.0 server and it represents a powerful tool for any community member needing a server." Add on products for Pioneer Explorer 1.0 server includes Acronis for disaster recovery, Bynari Insight Server for Microsoft Exchange Server, and the HIATLANTIS CRM/Supply Chain Management system to name a few. Of course thousands of applications are also available for the server via the repositories. Community developers will appreciate the LAMP development capabilities of the server and ease of use via SSH or Webmin. Technalign will continue to maintain and track the Debian repositories to provide updates. The repositories based on Debian Etch and Sid along with some Canonical applications, utilities, and drivers that are expected to be replaced as Technalign moves toward building its own set of packages. The Programs folder will continue to be expanded as required and requested by our users. Technalign is requesting that community members provide feedback on the forums at http://forums.tapioneer.com as well as reporting any bugs on Technalign's bug tracking system at http://bugs.technalign.com.
